  • Archiving Rights: Authors may archive the published version in:
    • Institutional repositories
    • Public repositories (e.g., Zenodo, OSF, ResearchGate)

4. Licensing and Attribution

  • All versions (preprint, postprint, and published version) must be shared under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), which permits sharing and adaptation for non-commercial purposes with proper attribution.

5. Compliance with Funders and Institutions

  • This repository policy ensures compliance with funder and institutional open-access mandates, allowing authors to meet their obligations without any restrictions or embargo periods.

6. Benefits of Repository Archiving

  • Increased Visibility: Archiving in open repositories enhances the visibility and impact of the research.
  • Long-term Accessibility: Depositing manuscripts ensures their availability even beyond the journal’s primary platform.
  • Facilitates Collaboration: Publicly accessible research fosters interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations.

This repository policy aligns with METAL’s open-access mission, allowing authors to share their work freely at every stage of the publication process and ensuring that the research reaches the widest possible audience.
